How to gather? Acting in a Center in a City in the Heart of the Island of Eurasia

Under challenging circumstances, the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art opts for a radical format and changes its structure: the biennale will be condensed into ten days. Artistic, discursive and reflective moments will shape the space. Located in the Pavilion No.1 of VDNKh, it is here that the Moscow Biennale will evolve, as a think tank in real time.

Biennale: Sept 22 - Oct 1, 2015
Documentary exhibition project: Oct 3 - Oct 11, 2015

Peter Wächtler is a storyteller. His works are characterized by dramaturgic components such as melancholy, pathos, ironic or satiric humor, romance and such. Still, Peter Wächtler’s video works, sculptures and texts do not always follow traditional rules of storylines and -structures—ever so often doubts might befall the viewer on whether the works are fictitious or based on reality.

Peter Wächtler’s idea for his working-on-work stay with the Moscow Biennale is the creation of one or several short films together with Russian actors. For this, he prepares a number of monologues or dialogues that will be acted out or recited. They circle around issues of hierarchy, power, hegemony and their reflection by the speaker.
